Hi all: I will possibly be selling my house and hitting the road as a 65-year-old woman with two small dogs in the near (to distant) future.

I have not bought a rec vehicle yet but am am narrowing it down. I am single so I will have to do everything myself. I am thinking used travel trailer. I don't want to get crushed at parks, so I might be boondocking from time to time and need advice on whether solar is worth it.

Can anyone tell me how reasonable it will be to travel with two dogs both just at 19 pounds. Their level of comfort with make or break my decision to do this; they have to be as happy as I am.

I will probably have many more question :(

What size trailer were you thinking of getting? What will you be towing with it?

My dogs love to go for rides but as soon as we get moving they whine like idiots the whole time. They do it in the car or the camper.

Yes if you are going to do a lot of boondocking then i would strongly consider solar.

As to your "kids" ours have always loved camping and I am sure yours will as well.

Solar is a great investment especially if you boondock a lot.

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Under this forum list is "RVing with Pets". You might want to go there to read some threads. Most people who I have seen who travel with their pets do well. The animals just want to be with their pack and you are that.

Have you thought about a small Class C motorhome? It would get you in and out of areas, allow you to use the engine to charge the batteries if they get low, and give the dogs a couch or bed to sleep on while traveling down the road.

If you get the right size, you can leave off the tow vehicle.

Go to PPL Motorhomes website (out of Texas). They are a consignment shop and post floor plans which can help you to see what would work and not for the three of you. Gives you an idea of prices also.

Keep looking, you will find what you want.
