Hi everyone, having a camper has been a lifelong dream of mine, since I was a child. I will be 65 in about a week, and we finally bought our first travel trailer. I was in the hospital being treated for cancer for about 4 months all summer until the middle of October, so this was a bucket list thing for me.

We already have a 2016 Sierra SLE half ton with a tow package, so we decided to find something we liked that wasn't too big, and would tow easily with the truck. We decided on the Venture Sonic 220 VRB. (Even though I really love those big rear living room fifth wheels). I do like the dry bath, murphy bed, storage, and outdoor kitchen in the Sonic, and I know we will probably want to boondock with it once we have used it a few times, so smaller is probably better!

We were going to take it on it's test run, when we fist bought it, but it was almost November, and we had a huge wind storm with trees down and power out for over a week. Anyway, between that and health issues, we ended up taking the dealer up on the free winterization and storage until spring.

I can't wait to take a trip with it, and look forward to learning from you all!

Welcome Kathi.

We bought our MH last February, and had to look at it for a few months before we could take it out. Winters in New England....sigh.... The good news is that you have lots of time to scour the boards for some great information and to look at where you want to go once the weather is better.

The recent storm was a bad one. My sister was without power for a week in Poland ME, until a power crew from Kentucky finally got them back on line. It's awesome how the power companies 'share' crews during emergencies.

Thank you everyone! Yeah, I've been spending a lot of time learning and researching, so I will be ready when spring gets here. Our yard is too tiny to bring the camper home, but we have a friend off the island who is going to let us keep it there. He's had two campers. A large second hand one, but never used it because his wife said she'd only go in a new one. He finally bought a new Jayco three years ago, and she won't go camping in that either. He's looking forward to us getting ours going so he will have someone to go camping with.

His Jayco is a nice camper, it's about the size of ours, but doesn't have the murphy bed. We like Jayco, but the place that sells them in our area is one of those places where they are your best friends until you sign the papers, then they don't know you any more, so we went to a dealer with a better reputation..

Which island are you on Kathi? My sister used to live on Peaks, until a couple of years ago when she went to the dark side of mainlanders

I'm much further downeast in Stoningon, on Deer Isle. It's about halfway between Rockland and Bar Harbor, by boat. It's a beautiful place in the summer, but I hate it in the winter.
