Hi everyone! My husband and I just went to the Ohio RV show to try to narrow down our search for our first TT! We spent 6 hours looking at everything and finally decided on a 26' Jayco, but then realized our GMC Acadia's tow capacity was too low. Most people would have moved on, but not us. Our Acadia is six years old and we are now thinking about trading it in for something newer with bigger towing capacity, so we can get the size trailer we want - probably sounds crazy to most people! We are ready to spend our weekends camping around Kentucky, Ohio and the great state of Michigan!
Will let you know when we finally make our purchase! Excited to become a part of the RV community

Howdy and welcome to the forums! We did the same thing. Fell in love with a 34 foot TT and had nothing to tow it with. Went out and bought a Ford Expedition with a 9200 pound tow rating. However we traded the trailer in a year later for our motor home, kept the Ford as our primary vehicle and just bought a small Kia to tow with the MH.
So go right ahead and trade up to a newer vehicle and don't worry about it being crazy, just do what makes you happy!!!

Welcome aboard!
You've certainly come to the right place to find out about the lifestyle.
Being from Ohio as well; I can say we have a plethora of State Pks. at our disposal that offer some of the nicest campgrounds you'll find.
Hope you enjoy your purchase.

Hello, fellow Buckeye &
Shopping at the RV shows is great fun & you can get some good deals. Jayco builds a quality unit & I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Just use the GVWR of the TT to base your hunt for a proper truck to tow with.
Pop over to the North Central & Pond Piggie Forums for local camp outs. We usually get to putting up locations around early Spring. We, too, love camping in OH & KY. We did a circle tour of lower MI a year or so ago - so much fun. Hope to meet up w/you.
Post pics of your new TT. We love to see pictures.
Lori-
P.S. Did you go to the Columbus show? What did you think? I wanted to go, but am down with the flu. Wondering if it'd be worth it next wknd.

Having been in your situation, make sure you do your research on trucks before you buy one. NEVER, believe what a salesman tells you, they just want to sell. If anything, buy one with a towing capacity a lot higher than what you think you will need. That way if and when you trade for a bigger travel trailer or 5th wheel you will have the truck you need.
Good luck in you searching.

Hi Lori - we thought the show was totally worth it! $10.00 per adult ticket but the show's website has a discount pass you can print that makes each ticket $8.00 instead. I hope you are feeling better and will be able to check the show out!
Where in Ohio do you live? We are in Gahanna.
