Just joined iRV2 to do some research, great Forum. I had a 40 ft 1989 Beaver Marquis DP from 2002 - 2010 and went cross country 3 times. Recently retired and ready for another Class A within the next 15 months. We need to get out of FL in the Summers. With a lot on our plate, not sure if it will start this coming spring of the following.
What to buy??? Wild card at this point. I'm never one to buy new and hope to keep under $90K or lower. Goal is to go cross country, west coast for up to 3 months at a time (with a toad). Would like to be able to boon dock 3-4 days at a time, hit state and national parks, as well as nicer resorts. Not sure on length. From what I have seen, many gas available at 32, DP's at 32 are a bit rare due to the majority being 38 - 40 (making the smaller parks an issue). Maybe a 34 would be OK. I would like others opinions on these concerns. Since I have been out of it for awhile, I'm a bit confused as to why almost all class A rigs now have home refrigerators. Doesn't this mean that if your not on the road driving or plugged in, you are forced to run a generator of us the coach batteries. I assume maybe about 1 day on coach batteries for the refrigerator. This isn't adding up to me. I know I'm missing something???
Really liked the DP but not married to them. I have heard the gas units have gotten a lot better. Also, I have read a lot of the gas vs DP threads. Yes, the wife wants slides, a little picky on layout (what ever that is) and prefers a king bed (not a show stopper).
Gosh, I've written a lot. Any comments, suggestions, enlightening or pointing me to relevant threads on my criteria would be great.
Thanks and I look forward to my new membership.
