New member from Scotland with some questions!!

Hello all and thanks for such a wonderful site. Such a wealth of information so far and hope that some of my own knowledge will be of use to some! We run an IT/Electrical company here in Glasgow, mainly working on Hydroelectric power schemes, but have been working on vehicles, gas systems, oil installs and most appliances in the past though strange twists in life!!

Here we go:

Having looked at all our options, we decided to buy a 1995 Holiday Rambler Vacationer with some rear fibreglass damage, but not a problem as father is a great boat repairer, so this is in hand! The engine is the 7.5 v8 Ford 460 with a nice LPG conversion, covering 31,190 miles.

As we are in Scotland, information on the engine seems to be very limited and we are finding it difficult to trace/find parts. Rockauto so far have been great, but delivery and VAT charges are a pain!

After some digging, we have found that the V belts that I need in this country are actually Gates 6PK1275 and 6PK1740, but now need to find the correct tensioners and oil filter! Any help here would be amazing, as there seems to be so many different tread sizes etc! Would love a point of copy of the actual engine manual!

Our only other problem (so far apart from sticky starter solenoid!) is that we cannot get a supply to the furnace and need to trace the feed back. I though there would be a distribution panel, other than the fuses under dash and in engine bay, but cannot find one anywhere. The previous owners did do a very rough 240 volt conversion, but this consisted of a 16 amp commando plug wired to a 240 volt distribution board under one of the galley seats and UK outlets around the bus! Will redo this and once generator is serviced, wire everything through a step up transformer where needed.

Tyres seem to be a bit of an issue over here and as we need to replace all of them, are open to suggestions! We have earmarked Continental Cross Contact AT2's so far, but open to suggestions!

Well hope this hasn't bored you all too much so far and hope so fellow owner can help and let me know what to look out for in ownership of said bus!

Thanks and speak soon,

Michael

I have a 1998 itasca on a 1997 chassis with the ford 460. I have all of the original manuals, if this is the same chassis as yours I would be happy to get any information you might need. Let me know if this would help

Glad to have you here with us.

I understand the problems you are having. I would try to locate a local RV club. They will often have solutions to your needs as they are in the same boat. An RV rally might also be a good resource.

Best of luck with your repairs and Happy Trails!!

Taxes being a pain, is truly universal.
Due to cross the ocean differences , I'm not sure how much tire info, will translate to what's available for you.
I'm sure you will find all the info your after here in the forums.
Good luck and safe travels.

What part of Glasgow? I was born in Cardonald and later moved to Nairn then London, then escaped to the USA in 1987.
