Hi everyone, I am getting ready for retirement. I do not own an RV yet. I have in the past owned rv's and did a lot of camping. We enjoyed camping in our younger years with family. Now we are getting close to retirement.. Our plan is to sell our home..would like to buy 5th wheel and Truck.and have some fun. We have been to some of the RV shows. We are tired of being a home owner, and we would need to sell our home in order to by our RV and Truck. I am 61 and just trying to figure out how to do it all..sell my home..buy RV and truck oh my where do I begin? I have been reading you irv2 forums . Thanks Jim

I would start with reducing the inventory inside the sticks and bricks....probably more than a few garage sales are in your future....begin looking through threads describing full time rigs....all rigs are not created equal. I would think about spending good money on a new or near new DRW...Ram or Ford......we looked at a lot of 5ers before we bought ours. Almost a year. at the end of the day your choice will be a personal one and although folks can point you in the right direction....you....well probably your DW will choose the one that fits your needs and budget. I found the process of finding the rig that was best for us was, for the most part, exciting. I learned a lot from walking through RV lots talking with knowledgeable sales staff. Be cautious .... don't be "talked" into any deals.....Things like..clearing out inventory.....end of year sales....should not be the primary motivation for buying....Time is always on your side....take your time and learn a ton before you pull the trigger and buy your new home....Again welcome to the forum....use the search bar on the top of the page and ask a lot of questions.....happy trails.

Hi Jim! Welcome to IRV2! It's great to have you join the crew!

Hope you find the right RV for your needs. We pulled a 5er for 10 years before getting the MH. We loved it! Enjoy the forum!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Many that have though that the full time RV'ing life sounds like fun, and only to find out it's not really for them, loose ten's of thousands dollars because of it.

A six month, to a year, trial in an inexpensive, older RV, prior to making a final decision, may be a prudent move!
