New Member from Tempe checking in.

My DH and I just retired and plan to travel the USA leaving May 15,2012. My husbands boss gave him a great retirement gift. A ford f350 4x4 Diesel Pick up fully loaded with all the bells and whistles. Then we Went out and bought a 2009 34' Cougar by Keystone 5th wheel with 3 slides. It was used and used very little, got a great deal on it $23,500.00. Now we are getting her loaded up and ready to go. We are so new to this I wonder if I will forget all kinds of stuff. Any Advise from you old timer RVer's is appreciated for sure. I am trying to map out a way so we do not back track at all. We will start off in Tempe Arizona where are home is and head out to Las Vegas 1st heading over to the California coast on up to the Redwoods and mostly national parks. More advise if anyone has it for this part also. We have not decided if we want to pay for satalite for our 8mo. trip across the USA. Been looking into it but my husband does not want to deal with sitting the dish up each time, he says it is a pain, more advise need.

we will only be doing the outer part of the united states. The west coast, North top ,East as far as Erie,Pen. ,South and then back home. 8mo. we have set aside for this trip. Do you guys think we can do that?

I plan on have my computer so we will be able to look stuff up. I plan to buy the 4g Verizon wireless. We also have the Kindle Fire which hook up for quick access to the internet.

We bought the Honda parallel generators 2000i new, super quiet they are.

It just seems like I maybe over stressing on bringing everything ecluding the kitchen sink.

Oh did I say we are going on a Cruise to Alaska while on our trip, leaving out of Seattle, Wa. June 26th, I did find a great RV park up there to park our rig while on the Cruise. Lake Pleasent RV park they only charge $3.00 for storage while we are gone and we are plugged in to electric the entire time. That was a great find. It also looks beautiful so we decided to hang out for a few days before and after our Cruise. Want to go into Seattle and look around.

Well any ADVISE you guys on this forum that could help a rookie like me out to prepare for this trip will be greatly Appreciated.

Glad to be apart of this Forum. Thanks everyone.

Hello and welcome to IRV2. You sure have a great trip planned. If you forget anything, it's no big deal. Stop at Walmart and get whatever you forget. Most campgrounds have cable. If not you can usually pick up local stations with your antena.
Take your time, enjoy the sites and have fun. Keep us posted on your travels. When you get to the east coast, give us a shout and we will buy the coffee. Safe travels.

Welcome! I wish I could help you with the trip advice but we haven't traveled that far yet. It sounds like you have done your research though. Keep in touch along the way and let us know how you're doing. I hope to be able to do what you're doing one day and your experience might be helpful. Not to mention, if you run into any glitches along the way, chances are, someone on this forum will be able to help you! As for overloading your kitchen, I don't think you need to worry about it. With your F-350, it should be able to handle a comfortable kitchen set up. Why not have what you want! Good luck!

Plan on the time of your lives. My wife and I took the Alaska cruise on Princess cruise line and I gained 25 pounds. Helo'd on to a glacier for a couple hour trek, fantastic. Did more things than I ever expected you could do. Take plenty of pictures. You'll have the memories forever. Best of Times on that trip.

Hi lv2bgoing, welcome to the forum. Y'all have a wonderful time on your trip and cruise. Lake Pleasant is great place to stay while taking in the sights in the Seattle area.
