This is my initial post just to acquaint myself with the posting steps. We just bought our first Class 'C' motorhome last week and will not pick it up until May 30th. We have owned several RV's including [4] 5th Wheels, and [3] Hi Lo's. The recent hail storm in south central Texas did a number on our home and the Hi Lo. My wife and I are in our 70's and we decided to go the smaller motorhome route and give it a try. We found a used 2005 Coachmen Freedom MH with low mileage and reasonable price and drove over 300 miles to look it over. It was exceptionally clean and well cared for. My major concern is the chevy chassis and 6.0 gas motor and the mileage I can expect to get from it. I have owned a 2000 F250 4x4 ext. cab 7.3L diesel and we get exceptional mileage with it. It has 203K miles and due to my wife's comfort, we have decided to sell it when we sell the Hi Lo. Carol has health issues and the Ford is a tank and does not deliver a comfortable ride to her. After driving the Coachmen, she was sold for the ride was a lot easier on her.
I am sure being a first time MH owner that I will have issues that I will look to this forum for answers. I have been a very active member of the Hi Lo forum and received and given information that is helpful to me and benefits others. I am looking forward to continuing to do so in this forum. I am a DIY [when possible] kind of guy and try to take care of everything except the chassis, motor, etc.
Initially, I would like to be contacted by forum members who have a similar MH as we, a 2005 Coachmen Freedom Model 258DB. I would like some information as to mileage to expect with the chevy 6.0L gas engine, any quirks I should be aware of, any problems to expect, and your experiences with yours.
We live in Fredericksburg, TX and if you are in our area, let us know.
I am Looking forward to participating in this forum.

Hi Jerry and welcome to the forum. And congrats on your new rig.
I have moved your initial post from the thread you posted it in, now into it's own thread. In the future, whenever you have a question or want to post specific content, just go the the appropriate forum on iRV2 and click on "New Thread".
As for your specific questions on the chassis and coach... go to our "Owners" forums and post a new thread in the appropriate forum. Same with chassis questions. Go to the appropriate chassis forum and post your question in a new thread.
You'll find that many members have a great deal of expertise in specific areas and they tend to "hang around" in those forums that discuss what they're interested in. It might feel like a bit of a pain to have to break up your questions like this but it really will get you the most knowledgeable responses.
Sorry to hear of the damage you guys endured. We had the pleasure of spending a month in your neck of the woods a couple of years ago and loved it.
Best of luck.
Rick

Welcome aboard. Check out the Texas Boomers section on this site. Lots of them over in the Hill Country area. This weekend they are having a rally in Boerne...just down the road from you. Even if you can't make the rally, you are always welcome to drop in for a visit.

Hi Jerry and welcome. We were in Fredericksburg just last week. We usually go there for a week in the spring and a week in the fall. We were there the week of Easter this year but went down last Wednesday as we'd just swapped our pop up for a travel trailer up in Waco and used Lady Bird as a shake out trip. Gotta love the Texas Hill Country.

Hi Jerry & Carol! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined!
Congrats on the new rig! Hope it works out good for you!
I would suggest that you post any specific questions over in the appropriate areas of the forum for best results. Not many folks hang out here in the Welcome area.
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
