Hello, name is Jeff Ottle. Own a 2023 Winnebago Travato. Have been RV'ong for 9 years, previous rigs were Winnebago Adventurer and Winnebago Tour. I post one question already having to do with hooking up city water to the Travato, next I will be asking the right way to hook up the sewer line in say an RV park so as to get black tank dumped completely and correctly. Do I need to flush the black tank every time?

Black Tank Flush
I don't ever miss an opportunity to flush my black tank. There are five of us in a 2002 Expedition 36T, three kids ten and under....need i say more? I do however make sure that the black tank is at least 3/4 full before i dump it. Even if its half full, i add more water to it to make sure that it all drains completely when i open. I also let my grey tank fill up half or more. That way i can dump my grey tank right after my black to clean my hose out. Then every 4-5 times, i break out the snake and run it through my bathroom window. Give the black tank a good cleaning from the inside, clean all my sensors real good. Hope this helps!

Hi Jeff! Welcome to IRV2! We’re sure glad you joined the gang here!
If we're traveling and just stopping for a night or so, then I don't dump the black tank at every stop. I wait until it is about 3/4 full, then close the gray tank and collect water from our showers. Then I dump the black tank, flushing it with the on-board flusher, then finally dump the gray tank to clean out the sewer hose. Have fun and keep her between the ditches!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Congrats on your new rig.
May you have many miles of smiles.
Flushing the black tank is a good thing.
I do it after every dump, then use the grey
tank for cleaning hose.
