New Member - Hunting for an Fifth Wheel RV

We're a military family and I'm finally senior enough in the service to not be gone 300 days a year anymore (crossing my fingers on that one). We don't have an RV yet, but are really on the hunt. We made the big commitment of buying a 3/4 ton 2010 F-250 (thanks MSHappyCampers....they sold it to us).

We have 3 kiddos (7 yr & 4 yr old boys, and newborn baby girl). Ideally we are looking for a used bunkhouse so we can get our feet wet with the whole RV lifestyle. Any suggestions for a perfect setup would be well received. There are so many makes / models out there and it seems like so many brands are worlds apart.

We look forward to being active members on the site so we can learn all the lessons the collective group has learned....rather than learn the hard way by ourselves.

Thanks again to MSHappyCampers for the beautiful truck and getting me started off the right way by pointing me to this forum

Thank you for your service and welcome to IRV2.

I suggest you research the capability of your new truck. Find out what the rear axle rating is, the GVWR and CVRW's are before you start your RV search. Then you won't have to take the word of an RV salesman on what you can tow. Also, don't forget that you not only have to tow it, you have to be able to safely stop it in an emergency situation.

Again, thank you for your service.

Vietnam vet.

Welcome to IRV2 and thanks for your service.....We have a friend who bought a bunkhouse model....Its a Cougar and what I like about his model was there was a two piece washroom for the kids in the back and a loft so even the kids could get separation from each other. The sofa folded out to a double bed....pretty interesting 5th wheel...Look at lots of units and ask 100's of questions before you make a decision.....good luck
