New Member Leaves the community. (Sad...
I am new here.
I posted some topics.
Some members made comments that others saw as negative and I considered rude.
I take seriously the IRV2 Mission Statement: "Supporting thoughtful exchange of knowledge, values and experience among RV enthusiasts."
As a person who is not willing to allow negative comments and what I consider rudeness, I will be taking my online RV enthusiasm elsewhere.
I will be able to see the country, attend my first of many (I hope) rally's and meet people in person.
Good luck to all.

I am so sorry for your experience and apologize for anyone on IRV2 that may have offended you. I don't think you will find any forum on the web that doesn't have a few members who sometimes don't think about how their comments may seem rude to other people.
I do think that 98% of the folks here are respectful to everyone. The other 2% I just FIDO them (forget it and drive on).
I sure hope you will change your mind and continue to contribute to this forum.
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Everyone who posts sooner or later types something that doesn't come out quite right. Sarcasm ( my favorite kinda humor) is really hard to pull off with just type, as an example. You do both this forum and yourself a disservice by pulling the plug after one bad apple ( or three) runs their mouth. You lose because the vast knowledge on the Irv2 boards are not matched anywhere else. We lose, because every member that contributes makes the forums better. For every "dumb" question asked in these forums, I bet there are fifty people reading it that have the same question but didn't want to ask it. Buck up, buttercup and hang around awhile. Then we all win.

You should stay. I've read all your posts and threads, even though there were a few inappropriate comments, the vast majority were both positive and informative. I learned something from each thread as I'm sure you did as well.
Like has been said previously, would be a shame to leave!
Hope you stay.

So sorry you had a bad experience. I find that 90+% of the rv community are fine, friendly, people ( a much higher percentage than the total population today). And the help and advice I have received on this forum has been invaluable to me. Please don't let one or two goof balls turn you off. Ignore the few bad ones, there are many, many gems that you will gain from and appreciate if you just look for them.

Often forum posts and/or replies are misunderstood!
Electronic communications are easily misinterpreted, (it's not the same as
speaking face to face).

I am sorry as well. I have found most to be kind and try to help. There will all ways be one or two that stand out in not so good light. Just so you know the positive people here will be here for you (and all the others) now and into the future.

X2. Also, from your profile it looks like you have unique insight into issues where you could help many of us. Please stay.

Please reconsider, we don't post much but once when we did someone mad a negative comment. My first reaction was the same as yours. Almost immediately another IRV2 member (someone we didn't know personally) came to my defense. I really appreciated that and thought why let someone negative spoil the friendships that we make here and the great information that we get from this forum. We have stayed on and continue to reap the rewards of a forum of 'mostly' nice people that share the love of RVing with us.
We hope to see y'all further down the road.

You know, I think that being part of a forum like this is kind of like being a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Eventually someone is going to rock on your tail. Yes, it hurts at the moment, but most likely the one that rocked on your tail feels bad about it and maybe will be more careful in the future. JMHO!

If you believe there is value here for you then stay. I am a skeptic about "chat" and came to this site with some reluctance.
I got beat around a few times when I was new and didn't like it and considered leaving but believed ultimately the overall mission of iRV2 would prevail. It did. The problem here is the same with e-mails, written language is the most difficult to render and the most easily understood.
I found that being careful to read accurately what was written and to be more careful in my own writing was very helpful. Particularly difficult is attempts at humor, it is often misunderstood to be criticism. It is an area where personally I have often deleted my own attempts because after reading I found it open to misunderstanding and irrelevant to the discussion.
Deleting and ignoring what you do not like is very effective.

I add my comments and ask you to stay. You will find that this is one of the best. Other RV forums have lots more negative and rude posts. I have experienced it and as a result "moved" here.
May I suggest that if someone offends you, click on that members name and add that person to your ignore list.
After you add just a few you will see the rudeness will decrease.
As is in life, there are just a few bad apples. Find them and then ignore them.

Posting in a public forum as large as ours has its challenges. Rude/offensive posts can be subject to interpretation & often differs from member to member. What is offensive to one member wouldn't bat an eye with another. We try to foster that slightly above the middle-of-the-road atmosphere.
FWIW, most of our members & all our staff take the BE NICE! part of our Community Rules seriously. The vast majority of our members do not know what goes on "behind the curtain". When staff is informed & feel responses are inappropriate we PM the member with direction on proper forum participation. Further action will be taken if improvement isn't seen.

Hopefully, the rude comments were not made to you personally. Sometimes people post things that they wouldn't say to one's face, but that shouldn't necessarily contribute to a decision to leave as a result. I would like to think that, as long as we have the opportunity to share ideas on a friendly and cooperative level, we should embrace this time and discount those (and comments) that don't contribute to positive dialogue. I, for one, wish that you would reconsider.
