New member new to me owner. New to rv's
Hi everyone, my wife and I just picked up a 1999 kz sportsmen. I'll give a quick little background. I've never been camping in an rv so this is all sort of new to me. My wifegrew up with one but unfortunately did not pick up on her dad's extensive knowledge on the subject. He passed away a few years ago. At the time he had an 87 class c that we inherited but it had suffered severe water damage and we ended up selling to a friend looking to take on rebuilding it. Fast forward to now and we have a three year old daughter we want to get into camping and build those memories with. The bittersweet reality of it is that my best resource for all things rv related is gone so sites like this are a huge resource to me

Welcome! I too just got into RV camping/traveling. Besides here, I have gotten a lot of exposure to MH systems by watching Youtube videos and then doing the inspections and maintenance myself. You'll be surprised how fast you pick it up once you understand how "things" are supposed to work. Good luck and have some fun with it.

Welcome.
We have had a lot of enjoyment with our KZ. I am sure you will to.
Understanding RV's is not difficult once you get a bit of experience. One thing for sure is you have to keep diligent on the maintenance. Finding the issues early and fixing them will save a lot of headaches later.
What model of Sportsmen do you have?

Thanks Gordon. I am not sure of the model at the moment.
Being new to this it was all a little overwhelming at first but I've been able to take a step back and handle one thing at a time. Installed a new grey water valve, sealed up all the seams on the roof, installed a winterization kit, drained and winterized.
I wish we could have taken it out before the winter but too much to do and not enough time. All that's left is to find a dump station and go dump the holding tanks.
Prior to this the only thing i have ever towed was a 13 foot boat trailer that probably tips the scales at 600lbs so that has been a big adjustment.
