myself, my wife and our 2 doodles. went to the RV show here in Pittsburgh PA, saw the mercedes based with diesel, they have a customer trading in a 2023 Isatca next week which we are going to check out. However! We have yet to see one with the slideouts in, wondering about remaining floorspace. May have to go to 27'? Idk ????

Congrats on retirement and your upcoming RV adventure! You are very smart to consider floor space (most dog folks know). It can be overwhelming with all of the configurations and options available on motorhomes. Floor space can't be changed, so that's a good one to consider. I've found that if models come in a 24' and a 27' that I usually would go for the extra space, depending on if the layout increases the areas I care about. Slides make a huge difference, especially in a smaller RV.
The Mercedes diesels seem great. That's what I would get if I were going to be traveling around more. We have a 44' which works for us because we stay put for long periods of time. Someday we'll go smaller again. It's more fun!

Mike,
With a wife and 2 pups, you ARE going to need floor space.
Picture 2 cats in a small box.......
For half the price of a new "B", you can find a gently used nice class "A" gasser with 2 or 3 slides in the 28 - 38 foot length. Forty K or less if you bargain a bit.
I did and never looked back, and I travel solo. With the 2 opposing slides out I could hold a square dance in her, and with them in I can use all the facilities which is great for stealth camping.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We’re sure glad you joined the gang here!
Just don't rush into anything, I hear that MH prices are coming down.
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Is the Mercedes a class B? Is the Itasca a class A? me and wife have a class A Winnebago Vista LX and travel with 1 dog. we like to travel around like you mentioned and at 28.5 feet can go just about anywhere. it is bigger than a class B but has good floor space with slide out in. have the dealer show you both ways. I think there is a world of difference between class A and B. not so much between small class A and a class C but once we got in, we knew. this was all new to us a few years ago and I still come on this forum and ask questions because there are a lot of knowledgeable folks on here. Get the RV and sit in them. Enjoy the search and ask a lot of questions.
