New members from Florida
Hello Everyone,
We are new to rving and we could use lots of advice. We haven't purchased yet and we're weighing our options between a Class A. Or class C. We are retirees from N.Y., and thought we would try this lifestyle. We traveled last year by car and loved it. The only drawback was all the dirty hotels and food prices.
Our neighbor had a 40ft. Thor and had nightmares with it. The Thors we have seen are cheaply made and high priced - so we'll probably look elsewhere.
We are anxious to meet some of You'all and start the adventure. Have a very Merry Christmas and hope to see you in 2018. Thanks to all.
Sincerely,
Brnwaterbill

Glad to have you here in the forum with us. You'll like it here.
Look at MHs that are a couple of years old. They have taken the big depreciation and the kinks are usually worked out of them by this time. I can't recommend Class C but if you are interested in type A, then Newmar, Tiffin, and Entegra are well made coaches.
Good luck with your search and let us know if we can help you.
Happy Trails!!!

We started with a used Class C many years ago, enjoyed it for 10 years and sold it for slightly more that we paid.
We got back into the RV lifestyle 8 years ago, purchased another used Class C and used it for 7 years before selling it this past May, again for more than we paid!
Buying new is nice, but the depreciation, and new unit bugs take a lot of the fun out of it.
We are now on our 3rd used RV, a Class A this time, and couldn't believe how much the original owner lost on depreciation in a matter of just 2 years.
If you buy right, and take good care of your RV, you can minimize the potential losses.
As for a comparison, a "C" offers good space, comfort and plenty of conveniences along with a more manageable size when maneuvering in the city. Operational costs are also a bit less expensive.
The Class A's will give you more living space, a better view of the scenery with the huge front windshield, much more storage area, a better ride with the big 22.5" tires and overall more comfort.
But remember, all these extra features do come at a cost $, which can be expensive!
You really need to understand how you plan to use it in terms of amount of use it will get, will you be travelling, versus being more stationary in one park, will it mainly be for 2 people or a family, will you need an extra tow vehicle and what is the budget?
Then it also comes down to gas or diesel?
As much as we love our new "A", we also loved the "C" when we had it.
Ask a lot of questions, weigh the pros and cons and then go with what best suits you.

Welcome to a great adventure. Lots of good folks here with good info. Jim has give you some great points.
We have been our Class C for two years now. Not full time but when we are in the US (twice a year for 3-4 months at time) we are full time in the C. It has been great but we are now finding that we really would like some more room, so now looking to upgrade to a Class A DP.
Even with the C I think you will find you will want to tow a vehicle as if you are doing lots of touring you will like the ability to leave the rig and hop in the car for sightseeing, shopping and such.
Good luck

You will also find that Florida has some of the best state parks in the country and if over 65 and a Florida resident very cheap to camp in.
We will be actually starting our next 3 month trek with a month in various Florida State Parks

Hi Brnwaterbill,
Just wanting to add, there are many good RV's on the market today, and you will find the price points to vary dramatically.
In your search, be sure to look at the quality of the construction, the durability of the furnishings, online reviews, and use this forum to source information on makes and models both pros and cons.
Since joining iRV2, I have found the contributors to be knowledgable and open in their experiences with problems, and how the dealers or manufacturers have handled the "after sale service" and how owners have solved issues on their own.
