My wife and I recently purchased a 2005 Monaco Diplomat that needs a lot of work.

Mechanically it is fine. The engine (400hp Cummins ISL) and transmission (Allison 6 speed) work fine as do both A/C units and the 8K Onan generator. Even the automatic start for the generator works! All 4 slides work as they should too. Water system is fine. The only thing I haven't tested yet are the furnaces (2). Not much call for them yet. We are still hitting 90 degrees or over every day.

The exterior and interior are in serious need of help. Not sure what happened to the exterior (hail storm damage plus a lot of dings and body damage). The dealership told me the previous owner was elderly. It took me almost 2 weeks to take out all the carpeting and the 12" ceramic tiles (along with the OSB under the tiles).

There are signs of quite a few leaks (hence the need to remove the tile). I'm still digging into the floor. Monaco made this effort very difficult because the tile extends under the shower, both bathroom sinks and the walls.

One of my stepsons is the lead body and paint tech at a body shop in northern NJ that only works on RVs and commercial vehicles. I'll have his shop do the body work and also locate and fix all the leaks. They can pressurize the coach and use a bubble solution to detect where it is leaking. I'm driving it up to NJ starting on Nov 1st. I'll spend several days in PA and NJ before I ride my motorcycle back to FL (have a custom rack on the back for the bike).

I've already done and oil change (engine and gen), air filter change (engine and gen) plus changed out the air brake water filter/dryer. The fuel filters were dated just a few months ago, so I'm leaving them alone. There were a couple of leaks in the air lines to the air bags (Roadmaster chassis), that I was able to fix (bad lines). I am taking it to Cummins in Ocala on Wednesday to get the cooling system flushed and refilled. Also having them steam clean the radiator and CAC (aka intercooler). Lots of oily / greasy buildup on them.

This is not our first RV but it is our first motorhome. We've owned 2 truck campers plus we still own a Titanium 5th wheel that stays at our ATV camp in PA.

I've been a do-it-yourself er my whole life (I'm 64). I'll be looking for advice here and eventually I hope to be able to return the favors.

Thanks for reading this LONG thread!
