New old guy checking in...

Hi. I'm a 60 year old retired guy who just added a 1978 Avion 9.1 after spending every free minute in a 1969 Terry 19 foot. I am brining the Avion home to Virginia from NC this weekend, provided I can get my tow vehicle (1995 Dodge Ram 2500 Van all set for the trip. I need to replumb the whole thing with Pex, take the front couch out and put in a desk and a wing chair, and a Jotul 602C wood stove. The fridge seems fine, and the furnace was replaced in 2001, and seems to be in good shape as well. The water heater is shot, and I am considering going with a small tankless propane heater instead. I am a writer these days, and will love having a bit more room to stretch out while I work. I have already plundered this group for wisdom about the Avion and the Terry, and look forward to more thoughts from the knowledgeable crowd as I go.

The Avion looks to be wonderful, and a good fit for my dated sensibilities, although I am scared to tow such a large thing. I will do a 400-600 watt solar set on the top, and set it up for boon docking. I bought a Blue Ox WDH, which I will be figuring out this weekend as well. Wish me luck, please, and don't try to talk me out of the wood stove. I had the same stove in a 1968 Grumman motorhome, based on a one ton international truck, and have wanted wood heat in my travel rig ever since.

You sound like a man who definitely knows what he wants...you'll get no argument here.

Anyway, welcome from one 60 year old-timer to another.

Safe travels

Chance

Wood stove fine, ditch the tankless idea. If you do a bit of searching here you will find many complaints.

I already love this group! Kind, supportive, and already helpful. Thank you!
I started looking at the Air Head tonight as well. Looks like a good system. Does it really not smell?

As well as here, you should make friends over at Tin Can Tourist. I am often involved with them because we have a 1978 Cayo.
