New RVer in Western Washington

Hi all, my wife and I recently purchased a 1990 Fleetwood Jamboree Ralley RV. My adult daughter needs a place to stay for a couple of months and my wife and I love visiting state parks and car camping, so we figured this was a good time to try out an RV. 😊 When my daughter moves into her new place, we’ll have an RV to travel with.

We went with a used model because we wanted to pay cash and I figured we could fix it up the way we like. It also seemed like a good idea since I need to learn how the systems work and get used to driving it. Unfortunately, it is requiring much more work than I expected. The person we bought it from really pulled the wool over our eyes. She parked it on the street so we couldn’t plug it in to test most of the systems and we trusted that she was telling us the truth that everything worked, nothing leaked, and it was just older and needed updating. She seemed to know all the right answers. 😠

Turns out it leaks a lot and there are several systems I can’t get working. Sigh… Lesson learned. Ask questions and VERIFY. Guess when you only spend $5,000 on an RV you have to expect to fix some things.

So, I’ll be asking lots of questions. Looking forward to learning from y’all!
