New RVer, Old RV

Hi everyone! My family is new to the RV life. Hubbie's dad had a Holiday Rambler when he was younger, so he knows a little more about them than I do.

We just bought an oldie but a goodie, a 1995 Holiday Rambler Imperial that drove like a dream on the 200-mile trip home to Kentucky last week. It has about 100,000 miles on a Cummins engine, Allison transmission and Spartan chassis. The only things we've been able to find so far that don't function are the dash air, which we knew about when we bought it, and the CO2/LP gas detector. We're not worried about the air, given the two roof units blow cold, and we've already replaced the gas detector. We'll probably need a new mattress pretty soon . . . the current one does not agree with my back. The rig has been well maintained with lots of updates, so hopefully there won't be a whole lot of surprises right away.

After giving everything a good scrub down on the inside, we also did the Zep treatment on the exterior. The attached photo was taken a couple coats prior to finishing the job. Our rig looks pretty amazing right now, especially considering that we'll get to join the vintage club in January as our new addition turns 20. It sure doesn't look that old!

We were able to pass our inspections today with flying colors. Looking forward to getting it licensed tomorrow and on the road soon.

We purchased the RV to be able to go full time next spring with our family's music ministry. I'm sure we'll find some good use for it 'til then. We're beyond ready to hit the road right now!

That is one good looking coach! Welcome!

btw, if you you don't have chassis manuals, (at least the basic stuff) you can probably get them by contacting Spartan via email. They are a fantastic resource really interested in supporting RV'ers and very quick to respond.
