Cool New to Motor Homes

We've done it all, tents, 5 pop-ups, 2 TT, 2 fifth wheels and finally now a motor home. For years I've been after my DW to buy a MH but she always relied with the pat answer, " When the motor breaks down we have to take our home with us to the repair shop". Actually a good answer cause neither one of us are mechanically inclined and to be really honest she is smarter than me. But now we have a Kia that will only tow 3500# and we intend to live in it for a few to several months. Once we sell our home in Phoenix we will take the MH up to a county park and work as Hosts at the park until early fall. We will be paying somewhere in the ballpark of 25 to 40k for a well used one.
I've always heard that the motors don't last that long and one that has over 50 to 60,000 miles on it will have some major defects. Don't know if that's true but am concerned.
I used to be a bus driver so driving a 35 or 40 foot coach doesn't bother me all that much, but my DW ain't to sure about but she did real well with our 34" big horn fiver.
Okay, I'm getting a little to wordy so I'll close for now. but any feedback will certainly be appreciated.
Many thanks;

Are you a DYI sort? If so you may enjoy your new adventure. The DW is apprehensive about any combination of weight and size. I will work with her input as she is 50% of what works here.

Good Luck

Hi Tom

Glad to have you here in the forum with us.

It's not so much the age or the mileage that a MH has. Instead it is how well was it taken care of. Was regular maintenance done etc. If you have concerns about a MH condition have it inspected before buying it.

Happy Trails!!!
