New to RVing from Indiana

I would like to first say hello, then thank you for all your help. I have been reading this forum for about two weeks while shopping for an RV. With all your help and valuable information we decided on a 1997 Bounder.

It was really clean inside, no water damage (that was apparent) inside or outside, 6 brand new tires (LT235/85R16) which on the RV makes it look like a toy and runs well no visible signs or noise to say the engine as problems. The first item I am going to do is an oil change since the dealer has no idea when the last one was done. It as 59,000 miles so it is broken in and a Ford F53 chassis with Ford 460 V-8 engine. The salesman told us it was a V-10 but when I crawled under it to look as the chassis, transmission and other items I only notice 8 plugs, no biggie, that much easier to work on myself where I can.

We plan on staying close the first few times (in case) and being the end of the season. My daughter and son-in-law have a popup so they will be going with us for help if needed. We retire in about 7 to 10 years so we wanted to start now and get a feel for RVing.

Again, thanks to all of you for your assistance and knowledge to help us make this decision. I have attached a pic of the addition to our family.

Welcome!
About 2 years ago we bought pretty much the same rig as our first RV. We have performed a long list of changes to make it "ours" and very few things that were necessary so it has been a good experience. In your inspection be sure to check the rear sway bar bushings, if they have not been upgraded they are likely completely gone. replacing them with these Ford F53 Class A motorhome Rear Polyurethane Sway Bar Bushings 1990 1997 | eBay will do miracles for handling.

Good Luck, be sure to find your way to the Ford Chassis and Fleetwood forums all the answers are there!

Thanks to all for the very warm welcome and the advice (Brockx) I will definitely check the bushings. We plan to be in Decatur, IN for FW's 65th next year. Hope to see some of you there

Would the sway bar bushings you mention work on a 1998 Southwind storm?

If it is the Ford F53 Chassis yes and very worthwhile investment.
