New to RVing, going straight to full-timing!

Hello everyone!

This is probably a little crazy, but our family (me, my wife, our two Labrador Retrievers) have never RV'ed before but are planning to sell our house next spring and go full-timing for hopefully a few years. For the last few months we've been researching and reading and watching videos and visiting RV shows and dealers to learn as much as possible to make some informed decisions. Fortunately we have at least 6 months to go before it's time to buy (that's when we'll have enough savings for me to quit my job), and we plan to do a few short rental trips in a C and an A to get a feel for things and ensure this is what we really want to do.

Feels a bit like drinking from the firehose - learning new things every day about weight limits, solar power, LPG, boondocking, routine maintenance, new vs. used, diesel vs. gas, campground etiquette, generators, checklists, flat-towing, tire pressures, and a thousand more things.

This forum has been a great help so far, and we'll keep reading more stories each week to help us get prepared for this major life change!

We had never driven anything bigger than a Honda nor had we ever camped. Then we bought a 36 foot class A and did not go home for four months. Now, less than a year later, we are going full time. We have learned a lot, bought a bigger class A, traveled to places afar and have met wonderful fellow travelers.
You will have a great adventure. Enjoy the ride!

Thanks!

Thanks for all the welcomes and encouragement!

Forgot to mention, we currently live in Northern Virginia, and are in our early 40s. Feeling really lucky that we have the opportunity to pursue this right now! Have read so many amazing stories here and in people's blogs. We're excited!

Thanks,
Mike & Kat

I don't know if you've tried this, but I would recommend Living the RV Dream podcast and website. They also wrote a very good book on full timing called So You Want To Be An RVer. Good luck!!!
