New to the World of RVing

We, my wife and myself, are new to RVing recently purchasing a class c Thor Freedom Elite. The plan is to take short trips (2-6 days) for the next few years to learn the rig and lifestyle until I retire in 2019. At that point go on trips around the country for weeks if not months at a time, especially during the summer to escape the humid FL summers. The past month this forum has been a wealth of information to us. Following the forums hopefully we can continue to learn help others with what I experience and learn while starting my RV phase of my life.

Welcome to the forum to you and your wife. This is a great forum, it is where I came 18 months ago before purchasing our first MH to learn and the people here have been very helpful.

FYI, YouTube has a lot of how to videos so check out that also. Hope the two of you enjoy your rig. It sure is fun.

Make sure to get a water filter and pressure regulator for your water supply. CGs (campgrounds) are notorious for having high pressure that can blow your pipes and the regulator will stop that from happening. They are fairly inexpensive. The water filter will keep the sometimes dirty water of the CG from getting into your supply. Also fairly inexpensive at Walmart.

Most importantly just have fun.

Yes I use a residential style whole house filter plumbed in right in front of the pump. I get some discoloration in the filters in a few months so I'm definitely getting good use.

Welcome. You have a similar life plan as my wife and I. We just upgraded to our dream DP. She runs a home based business and I still work full time. But my job allows me a lot of vacation time so we take several long trips every year, being gone for a week or two each time. I plan to be able to retire in the next 3 years or so then we are off. Not sure if we will be full timers or just plan to be gone for months at a time but still maintain a home base. Good luck in your journey.

Don't make the mistake of getting one of the simple flow through water pressure "regulators". They restrict the flow too much. A whole house Watts unit from Home Depot or Lowes is much better. That's what I used on our Dutch Stars and the Magna came with one plumbed in. Much more expensive but can be moved from your present rig to a new one in the future.
