Newb from MD
Hey folks! I'm Cherry - starting out in Maryland and ending up who knows where. Due to a health crisis I lost my job earlier this year and am in the process of losing my home. Facing homelessness I've decided to pack my 6 cats and 1 mouse into a class B and travel the states doing volunteer work and work camping. Traveling in a RV has been something my brain has been kicking around for a long time since my field (veterinary technician) is high turnover and workers are always needed especially in volunteer capacity. I'm looking forward to the experience and challenge!

Let the adventures begin
Sorry about the health and job situation but maybe all for the better. Sometimes its the nudge we needed to make that leap into a better way. My wife and I are beginning our adventures after a forced retirement started things a little early but we think it was the boot we needed to get started. There is a vast amount of helpful folk out here that are always glad to pass on their knowledge. Ask away with questions as I have learned.

Cool rig. Welcome, Cherry. We're both Marylanders, currently in the Lone Star State. NM, TX, OK, AR all have wonderful state parks and each has a park host position.
There's another gig here you might investigate: live on-site at a drilling pad, take readings every few hours. Every pad has an RV. They dot the landscape. And, the winter weather beats the daylights out of Garrett County

Awesome, I'll be looking into pretty much anything I can do. Since I'm starting this at 36 and being mostly able-bodied that leaves me some pretty wide doors.
As far as MD winters - we've been lucky this year. Today is our first below 40 day all winter. We've been mostly in the 50s - 60s which is unusual for MD this time of year but I'm certainly not complaining.

Welcome, and best of luck with your new found lifestyle. I think you will love it and I am confident you will find work in your field somewhere in your travels. Love your rig - had a Leisure Craft class c of about that vintage - made by same company. Excellent motorhome that was very reliable.

Hi Cherry, welcome and good luck on your travels.
If you need a couple of pointers to places that could use a volunteer with animal skills in exchange for an RV site, PM me. One in Southern MD and one in coastal NC, neither too far from you.
I have spent many enjoyable hours at both.
