Hi to all. Im new to this site and also new to RVing. Just purchased a used Fleetwood Pace Arrow 34ft this past fall. Have yet to go anyplace.
Am single female. 71 yrs old. Plan on traveling to SC to visit my sister in law late Feb. Leaving from Maine. Little nervous traveling by myself. Would like to find some free or cheap overnites on the way. Any suggestions on safe places.
I have heard that truckers resent rvers at truck stops???
Also was reading about older women getting beat up and car jacked while pumping gas. Has anyone heard of problems?
Also have looked all thru my manuals and cant figure out where the gas furnace is. Found the water heater on the driver side outside but cant locate furnace. Any suggestions.
Thanks
Barbara

Hi Barbara! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Congrats on the new Fleetwood! Be careful out there! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Hi Barbara, I’m new, still at the stage of day dreaming and think we would like to try thr RV life. Living in the south I’ve always felt pretty safe, but of course I’d the large well lighted places to stop and fuel. I’ve read the same on truck stops, yet I think the advantage of RV travel would be that sort of quick overnight stop with a nice campground at my destination

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new coach.

You are joining a good group of folks here with good info to share. Read the various forums and ask questions as they come up or add info if you can.

Look at joining Harvest Hosts for lots of free overnight camping at wineries and farms.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure!

Welcome to iRV2

I fuel up mostly at truck stops and never had an issue. I have also spent many nights in truck stops without incident. Just don't park in the middle and take up two places.

Furnace? Walk arpundmthe outside. Look for a shiny chrome piece about 4x8 inches with a couple of holes covered by a mesh. That will be the furnace exhaust. Furnace will be just inside. Free? In cold weather you might be better off fi ding a camp ground andmplugging into shore power. In cold weather a furnace even on low setting can kill a battery in a couple of hours. BTW how old are your batteries? As a matter of quesrions, how old are the tires. If the date code is more than 5 years you might want to get new tires. Hate for you to get sruck on the side of the road with flat tires.
