Newbie but really trying

After 40+ years of being a union bricklayer I retired and thought i'd relax. Well my wife had some friends that had rv's parked in a Yogi Bear campground in Wisconsin and she decided we should buy one that is parked there. I thought "how much could there be to learn about a parked rig". I learned real quick that there was a lot that had to be learned and delt with. My vision of sitting in the shade with one of those fancy drinks with the little umbrella soon faded away. Somewhere I read that "camping is where it costs a fortune to live like a homeless person".We bought a 2003 Keystone Montana 3670RL along with a deck shed and golf cart. The second time I pulled the slides in on the bedroom slide the anchor bolts that attach to the floor ripped out. That was my first rv lesson about what happens if any water gets where it shouldnt. We bought it in August 2018 so this is my first winter worrying what I'll find in the spring when we go up there

Ah yes I know what you mean. Having an RV is not for the feint of heart.

You've already learned RVing isn't for sissies.

By the way....welcome aboard!!

Welcome to the forum. Sorry about your bad luck with water intrusion. But, glad you got it fixed before it destroyed your nice fifth wheel. As you've discovered there's always some maintenance that needs to be done or something that needs to be fixed. Hope you have a great camping experience when you get back to your RV.

I have to ask....why did you buy an RV? Do you have bricks in your head?

Couldn't pass it up LOL

I didn't really expect it to be much cheaper than the B.O.A.T was, when it comes to repairs.

An RV is just a boat on wheels and the B.O.A.T factor applies to both! Welcome to the forum and to the challenges of owning an RV. Enjoy!

I suppose, like anything, the main thing is to stay on top of of the maintenance to keep costs down as much as possible.

billhorn, the stories I could tell about buying boats. I had to replace a fuel tank in one I bought. The floor had to be cut out for that to happen. In the end we can only hope that benefits out-weigh the costs. I believe they do.

My trailer is smaller than my boat was (barely). I hope that helped some.
