Newbie from Iceland - sorta, kinda
Originally from the midwest we are longtime rv'ers, tho back then it was our boat & a tent. We trolled for lakers and netted herring on the Great Lakes and camped out on the islands to regain our land legs.
Moved up to truck campers when we sold the boat, then to a Dodge motorhome when we came into money and the wanderlust - which has never abated. Eventually, we bought several rigs, each one larger than the last - until it got cost prohibitive and we returned to the sea.
Our present boat is an 18m cod boat working off Iceland. In the meantime we inherited my best friend's Unimog which he bought in the Netherlands shortly before his death a few months ago. It's firmly in place on the rear deck and offloaded whenever we go to a new port. Of all the vehicles we've owned/driven this one is the best.

Thanks fellas - we will be importing the Unimog this fall to Georgia - our winter home.
Some specs: It's a newer model 5000L, crew cab, 220hp BlueTec, 650lbs torque, 8fwd/6rev manual, Michelin 445/70 R24 tires to go with our 43ft Jamco LQ trailer.

I look forward to seeing pictures of it. Are you going to do the modifications yourself?

Not really, I've got two welders on the boat that work on it from time to time, plus I have a number of people in Vesty here offering to help out.
