Newbie from Maryland

Hello all,

I just purchased a new truck and fifth wheel and getting ready to enjoy the RV lifestyle. My wife and I are really excited anticipating the experiences we will be sharing over the next few years. Our youngest son is about to graduate high school and we are considering selling the house and becoming full-timers.

I look forward to meeting everyone!

Terry

We sold our home in MD in September, now loving life as FTers in sunny Calif for the winter. Enjoy

Cali sounds great right about now. The temperature is getting low and we are wishing we could take off now. Hope you have a great time.

Hi Terry,
We had 2 kids in college when we sold the house and went fulltime. Never had a problem with kids coming back to the "nest". Also, never made it to retirement, just quit. So we work a little and play a lot. Life is not a dress rehearsal. No regrets! All the best to you as you proceed forward.

Hi Terry,
Welcome to IRV2! It s a fine forum with helpful and experienced folks. We started full timing this spring. Sold our farm of 20 years on the eastern shore of MD (Stockton) last December. Will retire in January 2014 and head south for warmer weather. Have fun!

The "nest" issue has been a concern. Our son was very surprised when we informed him of our plans. We will take it slow and make sure it is the right decision. Older daughters seem to take it in stride. They are still finishing college and have been away from home a couple years.

The retirement numbers have looked promising. It all comes down to the lifestyle in which we will be comfortable. On paper we could go within seven years marginally comfortable. It scares me to think of not continue to provide for my kids. They may be spoiled.

Welcome to IRV2. Make sure you have an exit plan and enjoy the road. Don't want to see another family hurt by today's economy.

Where in Lusby do you live?? We sold our place in Huntingtown Md. back in 05 when I retired from the "PUZZLE PALACE" in DC. I didn't go full time though we built a home and a RV building in the Fl Panhandle. We still have three kids and nine grandkids in Calvert Co. but I must say "THE BEST PICTURE OF MARYLAND IS IN A REAR VIEW MIRROR". Good luck in your travels and enjoy yourselves..
