Newbie from Texas

Having never "posted" anything before, hope I am doing this correctly! DH and I have decided to sell our home and everything in it, purchase a Thor Tuscany 45lt and hit the road as full timers. I'm just doing a lot of research at this point but hope to be on the road no later than late spring. We've never motor homed before but I was a truck driver 30 years ago so what the heck - always love a good challenge!

Enjoy the open road, and welcome to the forum. If my family has their way i'm literally over 3 decades away. Note don't you feel better. The last Tuscany i saw was a mighty fine looking unit

Thanks for the welcome. Can't begin to imagine what the RV world will be like 30 years from now. Let's hope you don't have to wait that long!

Retirement not rving we're debating an entry level or used a next year or hold off for a nicer unit in 2016. By 2043 it'll either be very amazing or extinct due to carbon footprint or something.

Now the fun part for you

NASCAR garages, Bryce canyon & zion, Williamsburg & jamestown, Lincoln highway, kicks on route 66, baseball tailgating, the Poconos (book a night at Caesars and you can have some time in a life size champagne glass hot tub , mammoth cave, the henry ford & Greenfield village, Chicago museum of technology and field museum. The st Augustine lighthouse and dining at the Columbia restaurant.

You have many adventures ahead

Well you certainly have the experience behind the wheel and you're starting with a beautiful coach. Best of luck in your new adventure!

We went full time and sold the house and everything in it last May and are having a grand time.

Since you used to drive trucks, do you still have your CDL?

That 45' coach will have a GVWR of 26,001# or higher which will require you to have a class B non-CDL in Texas. You will have to take a short written test and then a test in the coach.

What part of Texas are you from?

Most fulltimers have only one regret ....... they wish they would have started the adventurer sooner.

I personally was a trucker up until 1989 when I made a career change ..... still have my CDL and still occasionally make a few bucks with it. My wife and I quit our jobs, sold a bunch of stuff, bought a used MH, sold the house, left the next day after the sale and went fulltime.

That was 11 years ago and it was one of the best things we ever did. Life is very short and this is not a dress rehearsal. I wish you all the best as you move forward. You, Diesel Diva, are doing the right thing!
