You are going to have a ball! What time of year are you coming? What have you seen before in the US? Then we can give you some specific suggestions.

The British are coming! The British are coming!
Welcome to the forum. I escaped to the colonies from Glasgow almost 30 years ago. Just remember to drive your Class A on the other side of the road and you'll do fine!

Just curious, how are you going to handle the US Residency stuff? If I recall correctly the Visa Waiver program is limited to 90 days per visit.

Welcome, Terry and family. This is a good forum to get answers.
DW and I are ex-pat Brits from Leyland (Lancs). We emigrated 45 years ago today, 03 Jul 68, after I landed an engineer position at Boeing. I put almost 30 years in, then retired early. We've lived in Washington State for all but three of those 45 years and are currently in the top left-hand corner in a small-ish (population about 17,000) seaside town called Anacortes. To paraphrase one of the BBC railway programs, it's "a bit like Grange-over-Sands, but without the sexual excitement".
We just love it here. Climate is like Cornwall, but a bit more reliable - longer periods of similar weather. Today, the high was 72F, low around 58F, clear blue skies by abut 08:30 when the mist burned off and humidity in the 30% range.
We're surrounded by deep water here. Anacortes is on Fidalgo Island, the only one of the San Juan chain you can drive to. The others all require a ferry ride. Within 2 miles of our house, the bay is about 800 feet deep. We're out at the western edge of town, about a half-mile south of the State Ferry Terminal
To see what it's like, go on Google Earth, enter Anacortes and hit the search button. I don't think there's another town of that name anywhere else. It was named by one of the original settlers after his wife, Annie Curtis. There are so many other names in the area relating to Spanish explorers, he decided to spell her name as though it were Spanish.
If you make it over this side on your expedition, feel free to get in touch. We're in the local phone book, the only "Damps" in town.

Welcome Terry & Kathryn. Come on over. Give us a call and we'll make you a decent cup of coffee - or offer you something a little stronger.
