Smile Newbie here from Colorado

Hi to you all,
I've just been browsing around this site and find it to be very helpful and friendly. Just what I need! Just beginning to shop for a MH; original thought was gas, but now I'm open to DP from reading others posts. Would like opinions on buying the book "Motorhome Comparison Guide" by Randall Eaton. It looks like it may be a good education on basic RV knowledge.
I'm buying a MH to make my move from CO to FL with my 5 pets (2 dogs, 3 cats) easier than checking into / out of a hotel every night / morning. And then I'll also live in it full time until I find the right house to buy. I'm thinking about 32' to 34', used, maybe 3-5 years old. Suggestions, comments welcome.

Karen

Welcome to iRV2, I don't travel with pets so I can't really help.

Are you moving for work ? Been to both, FL & CO , and think if I had a choice ;even though I no longer do " snow " I'd stay in CO. Maybe winter in AZ. JMHO.

From NH. Good luck with your move. A gas coach will be easier on your overall cost if your intent is to purchase a house in the end. But a choice better made by you, as you know your needs. Traveling with the pets you'll be fine. They'll adapt well to life on the road. Good luck and safe travels.

Howdy from NYC and SC and welcome to the forums. The DW and I are just part timers, but we travel with our dog who absolutely loves being in the MH. I am sure your pets will adjust too. Can't help with choice of MH because this gasser is our first, but we love the floor plan and even towing the toad we get reasonable mpg at around 7 -8 overall. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Hi Karen! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

It sounds to me like you are on the right path. If it's gonna be just you and the furry friends I would think about a 32' would be adequate, and that size would make it easier to get into state parks, etc. If you're planning to keep it a long time then I would seriously consider a DP. If it's only until you find a house then a gasser would be a lot less expensive. You should find some good deals in a 3 to 5 year old rig. Just be very careful and don't buy anything unless the owner can provide complete maintenance records!

BTW, You will get much better results on your questions if you post them over in the specific areas of the forum. Not many folks hang out here in the Welcome area so your responses will be limited. Go to the "RV Forums" at the top and then click on the MH forum.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
