Newbie in south east Michigan
We are a couple of retirees in Adrian Michigan, looking to buy our first motorhome. We have narrowed our search to Winnebago Via or View or a Leisure Travel Vans (triple E) Unity. Going to the Novi, MI show next week and should make a decision very soon thereafter.
We are very excited and hope to do an extended Alaska trip within the next year or so.
Looking forward to interacting and learning. Any thoughts or experiences or recommendations on our choices are welcome.

If you don't make it to Alaska consider the UP!

As you can see, we have a Winnebago. We love it. Will also be at the Novi show. Our local Winnebago dealer is General RV. Bob is a sales rep. there. Nice man.

Nomansland,
You will find a lot of help on this forum with regards to buying a RV and many opinions as to whether you should consider new or used. You will also be able to get information regarding Alaska from forum members that have done it too. If and when you buy a RV, new or pre owned you might want to consider joining a RV club. There are many clubs such as FMCA and Good Sam that are not brand specific. Then there are clubs that are brand specific. I belong to The Motor City Winnies (a chapter in the Water Wonderland Winnies- Michigan specific). The reason I suggest a club is that you will find many people that have made the Alaska trip and have a lot of information with regards to that trip. We also have planned outings every month from April to November. The Winnebago/Itasca Touring Club (WIT) sponsors "Caravans" and every year there is a caravan to Alaska. The people that have done it just cant say enough about how great it was. Other clubs and orginazations sponsor caravans too. If you would like to talk to someone about a RV before you purchase, I would be happy to pass on some of the things I have learned along the way. Just PM me

Hello from Near West MI
Nomansland,
Dont hesitate to consider a well cared for used coach as your first MH. We decided on a 2000 Beaver Patriot Thunder 425 Montecello, 40 feet long in all her glory, it has been really well cared for, and as it is our first coach we have many plans for up coming visits to all the places we have never been able to see. We will also be liquidating everything we have and become full timers as well, its quite a change, but now since we are both fully retired we are excited to be able to enjoy all that we have missed during our full time employment lives. Just make sure you take your time and make the very best decision for what you want to do.
Cheers,
