Newbie, wannabe from SC
Been reading the post for a month or so and was thinking about selling the house on doing thus full time. I have learned a great deal so far, but after visiting a few campgrounds in the area, it looks like a bunch of sardines in a small can. Hopefully there are campgrounds where you won't hear your neighbor snore or worst yet, they won't be able to hear me snore.

We gave found some spacious rv lots from time to time, but most campgrounds do seem to try and put as many hookups on their property as possible. They are out there, just got to look for them.

They are there, but they are not common and RV parks by definition tend to be communal collections of closely spaced RVs. You may or may not be aware that there are different RV resort sort of communities. Often you purchase your lot within the park and often you can build a small custom structure on your lot. You own the site and it is built for you. There are lots of restrictions on what you can do to keep the whole place from degenerating into what occurs with many normal housing subdivisions without covenants and restrictions, but if you are looking for more privacy, this is an option. Of course this is more like a "motorhome away from from home" but in these sorts of sites, you can control how close people are by purchasing larger lots. When you are on the road, being close is not as bad as it seems. I am not the type of person that likes closely spaced neighbors, and I worried about this a lot before we tried it, but we have found that most RVs either keep to themselves or are pretty respectful of others privacy rites. However, if you are going to sell the stick built home, you might consider one of the "owner" parks....
Drive lots of safe miles..

Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the bunch!
Going fulltime is a HUGE decision, especially if it involves selling your house. Just do a lot of research and be SURE that's the way you want to go. It's great for some, but for others it turned out to be a big mistake!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

We went full time a year and a half ago and we absolutely love it. Yes, there are tight campgrounds and there are some with plenty of space and trees between the sites. Google Earth can be your friend!

Didn't know about the buying of a lot, but when I visited some of the local campgrounds, I noticed a few that looked like thy had been there since 1968. But it was not the nicest part of the park.

Doing the research now, and is there a lot to learn! I think selling the house and going full time in an rv would be the best way to get the most from my limited retirement income. However I know there are other costs such as repairs and insurance, so it may be a toss up. At least if the RV is ad for, I can't be kick out!
