Smile Newbies checking in from San Diego

Hi! We're Judy and Jon, newbie owners of a 2021 Leisure Travel Van Wonder RTB, our first RV ever. We're just getting our feet wet with our new RV and the lifestyle in general. We are a couple in our 60s, not retired yet but self-employed, and are getting a crash course in both boondocking and camping at campgrounds with hookups. We spent 4 days on the road after picking up our new baby in Northern CA – two at Harvest Hosts and two at campgrounds – with lots of "learning experiences" (aka mistakes we learned from), all of them very valuable. These included a mostly sleepless night due to battery low voltage issues, and my husband scooping out the toilet with plastic bags (to dump in a jiffy john) when it refused to flush. A sense of humor has been a great ally on this journey.

We know we still have a lot to learn! We're going to another Harvest Host nearby (a winery) in about 10 days, and are looking for relatively short trip recommendations for us to spend a night or two here and there to keep learning before a big 16 day trip we have planned to South Dakota this summer. We look forward to interacting on this forum!

Welcome neighbor.
Try Dos Picos County Park in Ramona. A lovely place and close to home to work out kinks. Has water and electric at most sites.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new rig. Remember the learning curve is very long but thankfully only steep in the beginning.

You are joining a good group of folks here with good information to share. Read the various threads here and ask questions as they come up or add information if you can.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure!
