Newby in NC

I'm not new to RV's (used to have a popup, later on a 27' TT. Now I have a 2003 24' Coachman which we are enjoying.

We are in the Triangle area of NC in Hillsborough.

Interesting problem that maybe someone else has seen: When Coachman made this unit, apparently, they screwed up the VIN number. When I got my tax bill for this it was valued 2.5 times more than I paid for it. The VIN on the title is different from the VIN on the unit (one character different). I had the state run an NCIC check on both VIN's, one came back fine, the other as "does not corespond" but that is the one on the VIN sticker and the plate on the frame. The DMV is checking now for a week and a half but no word yet. Has anyone else seen this? Just wondering.

I'm looking forward to a good time here.

Welcome to the group. I'm sure the vin number will get ironed out, as with most problems just a little bump in the road. Good luck with it.

Howdy and welcome! How annoying about that VIN number. Did you buy from an individual or from a dealer? Good luck in getting that resolved.

VIN Number

Sarah, yes I bought it from an individual but then when I got my tax bill I was appalled, it listed a value 2.5 times what KBB said it was worth.

Then when I checked the number on the title against the unit I was concerned - was it stolen? No, I ask the DMV inspector to run a stolen property report (NCIC) and everything was OK except the one VIN "didn't correspond", i.e., no record.

I'm just waiting for the DMV to get this straightened out.

We are really enjoying the camper. We have loved camping forever. You meet the nicest people at the best places. Hope to run into some of you on the road.
