Newcomer from British Columbia

Hi everyone;
This is my first experience on a forum and as a confirmed do-it yourselfer I'm really looking forward to it. We are located in the southern desert part of British Columbia, relocated here from northern BC 2 1/2 yrs ago after 30 years of long tough winters. Our Rv experience dates from our first truck camper in 1979 through another camper, a cabin cruiser boat to the used Oakland fifth we have now had for eight years. I am a retired industrial electrician and do all my own rv servicing, maintenance, repairs & modifications and hopefully can contribute meaningfully to a forum or two. Contemplating an upsize fifth to 28-30 ft, 1 or 2 slide max. Leaving for Arizona soon, we've had snow once. Best, Green Jimmy

Green Jimmy: WELCOME to the iRV2 forum gang!! Nice to have ya here. Wife and I are fulltimers (no house, no stuff!!) and are currently keeping warm here in the Tampa area of Florida, but planning to migrate West to AZ in Feb. So...where ya headed to in AZ? Also, what's the "southern desert" area of B.C.? We've traveled around B.C. a few times and certainly love the area and the folks up there. Hope to run into you sometime, maybe down in AZ. Again,....WELCOME. Steve & Lynette

Hi;
The desert area of BC is along the riverbottom Of the Thompson river, roughly from Lytton to Kamloops and the Okanagan valley fron Kelowna south to the Washington border.Annual precip. is 10" or less and without irrigation little but cactus & sagebrush grows. Most of the heavily irrigated Okanagan valley is planted to orchards & vineyards and very popular as retirement communities. Not being big city folks, we'll be spending most of our winter in the Foothills region of Yuma. Cheers, J
