NG from SoCal

Hi everyone, new guy here from Orange County (Yorba Linda) southern California. I have a 2018 Thor Palazzo 33.3 purchased new 2 years ago. We're coming from a 34' 5th wheel toy hauler and 21' toy hauler before that.

We started 15 years ago desert camping only in the cooler months to ride dirt bikes/UTVs but now we're pretty much only local campground camping year round. I'm looking forward to planning some longer trips to get out of our bubble in the future.

Good to see another So Cal resident, I would be interested to hear you opinion of the local campgrounds, we just moved from a 5th wheel toyhauler to a Class A, we still go to the desert but are trying to calping locally also.

Hi SoCalWarrior, we love the beach, so we go to Sunset Vista and Newport Dunes (when it's not too expensive). We used to go to Mission Bay in San Diego a lot, but not as much recently, my friends liked Camping World down there, but seemed a bit chaotic for me. I do not recommend Bolsa Chica, the street traffic is too noisy and it's very narrow and hard to park.
Some non beach camping we've gone to Pechanga Casino RV resort. I love that the shuttle takes you to/from your spot to casino and to gas station & small fast food places near by, I love playing blackjack and the campground is very clean. Bonelli Bluffs RV resort was clean and had some good views. Vail lake was fun too, but I heard you need to watch out for snakes. We went to Prado and it was ok and we'll probably not go back. Prado was very roomy, but lots of bugs and the grounds weren't very well groomed.

There are so many places to go, but we're creatures of habit and love the beach, but hopefully we'll get out of our bubble more!

I looked into Newport Dunes the other day, pricey. lol. Bolsa chica was the first place we took the new rig, just a day trip, but we saw the rv park, your right about those spots, they looked tight. we haven't camped at prado, growing up in chino, it was just too close. We did lake hemet a few weeks ago, it was nice, but the wind picked up every day like clockwork, died down in the evening. just got back from lake skinner, it was nice. Will have to look into vail and pechanga, thanks for the info!
