Not an RV'er yet!

Hello,
I am planning for my retirement and hope to join everyone on the road or campground. Having not ever owned an RV I have many "newbie" questions. I'm researching many options but so far have a crush on the New Horizons. I hope to learn from the experts!

I'd suggest renting an RV for a week or so to gain some knowledge about RV's before you buy.

Also to find out if you are going to like RVing or not.

Welcome - renting is a good idea for a couple trips a year;
Or another thought is that you might want to get something smaller and used to learn with while you approach retirement. Used travel trailers (or some pop-ups/hi-lo/trail-lite) have all the systems a motorhome has except for the truck chassis. This would enable you to go whenever you have a free weekend. If you go this route you would need a tow vehicle and you would want to keep it at home to 'play' with it whenever you can.
Also, you can learn a lot by just shopping - just looking at used will telll you a lot about what to watch for. Don't forget to have fun as you shop and learn.
P.S. All RVs need something fixed - look at it as a hobby and use this site to learn how to do your own maintenance. It is a buyer's market and NADAGUIDES.COM/RV is a good place to get a feel for used RV values.

Thanks for the suggestions, I do think the renting will help with the selection process. I don't mind the maintenance aspects just need the knowledge. I plan to attend some RV shows and question the sales people to no end and purchase some recommend books to get me started.
