Novice Checking In!!!
I would like to introduce myself and husband. I recently retired from a The Veterans Administration Health and Hospital Corporation as the Director of Learning Resources in Fayetteville, NC....home of the 82nd Airborne. We will celebrate our first year of retirement in late August and have recently purchased a 2003 Four Winds 5000 26Q Class C RV. We are trying to learn as much as we can about our RV and RV'ing as we are novices. Tomorrow our RV has a date with a mechanic for a check-up.
Our son is asking us to visit him in San Diego but I'm not too sure we're ready for such a long adventure as novices.
I appreciate the opportunity to be a member of your group.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome!! Perhaps start with some shorter trips around your area. That way you can check it all out, find out the things you need and don't need, and build up a little confidence.
When we started we loved talking to more seasoned RVers wherever we stayed. We learned so much from them, and they were always willing to share their experiences and knowledge.
Take your rig out for some road trips and have fun... Going to San Diego won't seem so intimidating once you've been out and about in it a few times!!
Good luck!

Congratulations to you both and welcome.
My two pennies' worth: do driveway camping in the rain, then visit the closest campground to your house to experiment with placement, hookups, patio needs, etc.
After that, the trip to San Diego is just a chain of what you've already done, right?

Hi folks! Welcome to IRV2! It's great to have you join the bunch!
Congrats on the retirement and the new rig! Hope you enjoy the forum!
Don't worry, we're ALL novices, some a little older than others!
I would suggest that you post questions over in the specific areas of the forum for best results. Not many folks hang out here in the Welcome area.
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Fayetteville to San Diego? No sweat! I-95 to I-40, 3,200 miles to Barstow and drop down behind LA to San Diego. The adventure of a lifetime!
