old guy, new member

Hello RV world,
I'm an old guy who bought his first RV, 1977 prowler trailer back in that stone age and owned a Triple E class A, rented a few Winnibago class C's over the years. I've never had any experience with a diesel pusher.- remembering some Monaco owners having overheat problems in the past.
My current retirement project is in buying a sevrn year old Thor 40DX, cummins diesel with Alison trans, but wondering what issues I'd be facing ahead. Any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome!

I am an old guy with an old DP. First off the Allison is due for filter and fluid change. The original owner kept good records so I knew when it was due.

So a lot depend on what the original owner has records for doing. Even if you do not do the work yourself, watch it being done because maybe something like a fan belt or water pump will go out on the road.

A DP oil change uses a lot of oil. I use blackstone labs. I went 4 years between oil changes based on oil samples.

DP tires age out before wearing out. After a hard learning curve on my first MH, one of the first things I did on my new to me DP was put on a new set of tires and keep them properly inflated based on taking the MH to the scales.

On the there is fuel filters.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We’re sure glad you joined the gang here!

Personally, I would never buy anything with the name Thor! JMPO Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
