Old Motor home, But I have time and tools
Hello everyone,
I came into a 1984 Sprotscoach CrossCountry class A. I got it free, so I will see if I can put the old girl back into shape. I hope to be able to put it on the road in the spring of 2012. At this time she has collector plates on, but I would not consider her a collector model at this point. I figured I would have a lot of questions as I go forward on this project and figured I should join a good community of like minded folks. Anyone with suggestions please sound off. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Just for fun I looked up the coach on line---saw an 88 pictured. Very nice looking. I wonder is there any advantage to having collectors plate---maybe avoid some emission check or something? Worth checking.
How about some pictures and a progress check as you go along?
I think you will need ample time and tools and money but free is a good start.

So tell us what shape it is now -- runs? leaks? missing parts? flat tires?

Hi Fabfour, and welcome to IRV2! Congrats on the "new" class A! You'll have lots of fun getting her in shape. You mentioned "collector" plates. Here in MS we can but "antique" plates on any vehicle over 10 years old that are dirt cheap compared to regular plates. You might want to see if it's like that there. Good luck & God bless!

Update
Hi to All and thanks for the interest in my project. The MH has almost new tires, runs and drives well. Needs a lot of minor type of work, and some dry rot, but not too bad. I will post some pictures before I start the job. Body is straight and the roof is straight and has no sag to it at all. I walked on it and no give. I have a friend that used to do rebuilds on these things some thirty years ago, but still has a lot of knowledge and I will be getting some help from him. I may even attempt to paint the outside of the home too. I'm making a list of things that need to be fixed to put it in good using condition and another list of things that would be nice to fix. I will be checking to see if the recall items have been taken care of too.
Thanks to my new friends,
Fabfour aka Al
