I'm Paul & my wife is Patty. We are new to the RV world. We hail from Germantown, IL (about 40 miles east of St. Louis). Our kids are grown and we are hoping to be able to retire and go RVing full-time in about 4 years. We just bought our first RV... a 32' 2007 Keystone Challenger previously owned by an older couple that went to Florida every year for 3 or 4 months and then came home and stuck it in a nice barn for the rest of the year. We also bought the truck from the same people... a 2002 Silverado 2500HD with allison trans. and an 8.1 lit gas engine. We picked up the 5th wheel & truck on a sunday and on monday I was called to go to help with the restoration of power out east from Hurricane Sandy as I am a lineman for a local utility. Gone for 16 days... came home and four days later we made our first trip with the RV to Branson, MO.

Had a great time while we were there. Weather was up and down. Had trouble with an unbalanced tire on the truck on the way down and had a flat on the trailer on the way back home. We haven't let it discourage us any... we understand that there will days like that!

Anyway, we are looking forward to more RVing next spring but it's time now to winterize and put into storage. I have been reading threads on here for a couple of months now and really enjoy the never-ending amount of knowledge. Thanks for a great Forum!

Howdy Paul and Patty, and welcome! Congrats on the new rig! And yep, there will be plenty of "days like that." But somehow it's all worth it!

Hi Paul & Patty! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us! We pulled a 5er for 10 years before getting the MH a few months ago. We loved it!
You mentioned a tire problem on the 5er. I always ran the maximum pressure recommended by the tire manufacturer on the side of the tires, in my case with the 16" tires it was 80 lbs. I never had another problem after I started doing that!
Good luck, happy trails, and may God bless & keep you!
