Picking up my new/used first MH this week
We've talked about it for a couple years and decided to purchase our first MH. 2003 National Dolphin 6320 LX 34'. Only 13k Miles in real nice shape. Heading to Bodega Bay, CA next weekend w/ 6 other couples w/ RV's. We have dogs and wanted to be able to bring them in a little more comfort...
Glad to be part of your forum!

Our dogs love ours. Their own beds, AC, heat. I believe they think they let us go with them.

It is alway a exciting moment to bring that first one home... congratulations ...remember to take a few days before the trip to move into your new RV and try out every feature. Best to get advice before that frustration begins....than after you are tense. Camping in your driveway can be exciting too. I still move into the RV a week before a trip for a day or so and make sure it is all running to my satisfaction. Gives me time to assure a safe and uneventful travel.

New to Motorhome
Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to a great lifestyle.
You did not mention if you have experience driving a large vehicle, so I will assume (yea, I know) that you don't. If true, I recommend a couple of hours in a parking lot before you go with your friends.
First: Find a light pole in a unused area of the parking lot. Practice parking next to the pole (all 4 sides!) until you can park the vehicle within 1 foot of the pole. Get out and look each time you pull up to the pole.
Next: Designate a double length parking spot with cones or cans and practice backing into that spot from different angles, including a 90 degree angle. Try not to put any part of the motorhome over any line. Use your wife as a spotter. Then change places and spot for your wife. Decide on hand signals to use and let the spotter help guide the driver in.
Lastly: When driving down the road, remember to plant the crack of your butt on the left hand edge of the oil slick in the lane. you will always be in the right spot on the road. And remember the rear wheels track inside the turn of the front wheels. So don't run over a gas pump.
Have Fun.
