Purchase a 2011 Baystar 2901?

My wife and I are considering purchasing a 2011 Bay Star 2901 by Newmar from Palm RV in Fort Myers, Florida. We're experienced with travel trailers (as well as cruising sailboats) but have not owned a Class A. Any thoughts, pro and/or con, regarding the Bay Star and dealership would be greatly appreciated. THANKS

Take Five;

Welcome to iRV2. I believe you have found a great resource for answers to your questions here. The only info I can share with you is I am on my 5th Class A and have never owned anything else. I have no experience with Newmar. We have many members who do however.My wife and have been very happy with our class a motor homes. I would suggest you may want to visit our Newmar Owners Forum as a start.

Welcome and glad to meet you!

You might want to post your question in the Class A discussion forum.

Welcome to the forums. You may also want to check out the Newmar owners forum in addition to the Class-A. Try searching for the keyword Bay Star. Newmar does have a good reputation overall. Not experienced with the dealer so can't say anything either way. Like anything look at that floorplan and i'd suggest comparing to at least one other comparable unit just to make sure you made the right choice for you (I recommend that with any major purchase) . Good luck on your decision and when you do buy. Try every system. You should be familiar with a fair bit of it (Tow = Ford Chassis / and the trailer has tanks, similar brands for all the accessories etc).

There's a Newmar group forum here that should be helpful as well. Personally, I love the 2901 and like it better than the current 2903. One thing to consider though is whether it is a 2901 Baystar or Baystar Sport. The sport version cuts some corners finish wise and sells for around $10-15k less...but is still the same quality. Easiest way to tell is to look at the edging around the sink sounter and dinette counter...if it is black edging...it is a Sport so don't pay what NADA says is a Baystar price for it!
I know that a NEW but LY 2013 2013 Baystar 2901 recently sold for under 88k since I had been tracking it for ourselves. You don't say if the 2011 you're looking at is new or used but that might help you in determining fair market value for what you are looking at.
Good luck with the hunt.
