Time to make a check list to save antennas etc. We used a simple spreadsheet on the laptop but mostly use the check list feature in the Rand McNally RV gps.

Hi Forestmom,
Welcome to the group. We too have just bought our first rig and are completely new to RVing. I have been reading extensively for over a year but doing is different. Since getting our 2005 Dutch Star about a month ago, we have camped in the driveway, gone over many systems and done some minor repairs/maintenance chores. We leave after Christmas to head to warmer weather and start our adventure. I have heard a couple of tips repeatedly. 1. Make sure your tires are not more than 6 to 7 years old. 2. Go slowly. It's supposed to be fun. As someone mentioned, smile!
Good luck on your new adventure!

Another Newbie

YC1,
You have the right attitude and words of wisdom. Looking forward to meeting you some day.

Just bought a 2003 Monaco 40PSBB (whatever that means) Had it inspected by a professional. It is sitting in Valdosta, Georgia and I am up in Michigan. Will be picking it up on December 28th. Where can I find the ratings for repair facilities on these forums? This coach needs some repair that I can't do.

Should have left Michigan about three weeks ago. We have been getting slammed for about a week and a half. Would leave sooner but have a bunch of loose ends that need tying.

Does anybody know of a good RV repair shop around southern Georgia?

Where is the best place to but tires? Truck stops, tire shops or the local garage?

See you all on the road soon.

God Bless,
SNAFU

So I did my own service on the generator. Changed the oil and air filter and fuel filter.
Here is the old and new air filter side by side.

Nightstick,
I like what you did with the backsplash. The vanities look the same as ours. I did some research and discovered even though our tires looked great, they were nine years old, so we put a new set on.
Wow! that was expensive! But, I feel safer. I am in the process of putting a tire minder on. After seeing the picture of your generator air filter I think I might need to do more research. We will be taking a weekend trip and will have to use it for the first time. I just upgraded my driver's license to a Class B. That was nerve wrecking. The last time I took a driving test was in high highschool. What other cool upgrades do you have planned for your RV?

I want to add led lights outside under the awning, change the crank up antenna to the short permanent one, and get a windshield cover and thats about all for now. Planing on going to Yellowstone in June.
