RV Issue

Hi, wanted to mention to all of you about a situation i ran into concerning an electrical issue i had and people should know about. On all trailers there sits a TRANSFER SWITCH. This is where the power from outside comes in and it directed to everything in the trailer. Ive just found out that while travelling the main power wires can come lose. So what happens now is that under load while parked they can ark. As it turns out that is what happened to me and also my neibour. His transfer switch is located under his bed..his wire smelled wires burning and they soon found out the problem.

My situation was the same but i was sitting on the couch when it happened.Over time and under load those wires get hot.As time when on,it really got hot. In the end it cost me 600.oo for the new switch and the labour to have it fixed.Just wanted to share my story with all of you. Just joined today and i hope this doesnt happen you you. Thanks for reading.Doug Ferguson Okanagan BC

Most trailers do NOT have a Transfer Switch.. Only those with a built in Generator.
Most Motorhomes DO

However the warning on loose connections/screws... Applies to all
I have stories, but not today.. Suffice to say I've seen a lot of RVers (or is it RVs) with a few screws loose... Mostly the kind you tighten with a #2 Square bit.
