Sort of like pretending it makes a difference who loaded the gun when one is playing Russian roulette, huh??

As long as the citizens of my country are struggling, I'm not spending money in any country other than the US if I can help it. This has nothing to do with being better than anyone else. I don't support the illegal drug trade or run guns to any countries either.

Billions have been sent to Mexico and central America through the Mérida Initiative to fix the problems that have produced zero results. I see no reason to put myself or family at risk to spend any more money.

I would not go to Mexico in my RV if you were holding a gun on me. If I'm going to be shot anyway, I may as well be in the country where I speak the language.

If you want excitement, go park your RV down by the OWS demonstration, put on a T-shirt that says 'I AM the 1%' (in rhinestones), throw out the awning, and have a steamed lobster and steak dinner catered and served to you by bank executives and politicians. At least you'll probably come away with your life.

Ramblin,

Good stuff! My first good laugh of the day. I would pay to see that go down.

It saddens Me to read some of the Replies posted here.
There is only one conclusion that I can make and that is that there are many People who have jumped on the "Bash Mexico" Bandwagon !

I must presume that They must know something that I don't!

In nearly 12 Years of RV ing to Mexico and almost 40 Years of travelling around the World I guess that I must have had My eyes Closed and turned a Deaf Ear to what has been going on around Me.

Oh well I guess that means that I can head back to Mexico again this winter and will have no problem finding a place to Park My RV to enjoy My Ignorant Bliss!

Traveled many times to Baja Mexico -- to such places as San Jose Del Cabo, La Paz, Cabo San Lucas, Matzatlan, Manzanillo, etc. between the years of 1972 and 1982. Never had a problem of any sort and it was always 'good' times and lots of fun back then. Would not do it NOW. No way.

I guess we've read the paper. You can't honestly say that you have heard nothing of the kidnapping and killing of American tourists? With the cracking down on drug traffic they have been resorting to this to supplement their income. Take a vacation to a resort and tell us how many armed guards they have at the gates and what type of automatic weapons they carry. Then while you're there tell the guards you're just going out one night for a walk and see what they tell you

To Each His Own!

I can still remember when it wasn't necessary to "Lock" the doors to Our House and No Churches Even had Locks on the Doors.

Times have changed haven't they!

Part of the problem these Days is that People are so influenced by Negative publicity .

Mexico isn't any more Dangerous to You and I than Our Own Countries.

We have a greater chance of being Mugged,Home Invaded or Beaten to Death here at Home where Our guards are down than while travelling in Mexico.

For those who will not be convinced otherwise , that's too bad for you!

Its a shame the way Mexico and the citizens of that country are treated in the media and all the stories seem to escalate with each telling. There are over forty-thousand US citizens that live in Mexico year round. Like anywhere else there are locations that should be avoided, but for the most part it is no more dangerous than many locations in the US.

Just watched the NBC news tonight. Another story about farmers on the boarder having to wear bullet proof vests and hire "hired guns" to protect them. They called it a war zone. Don't think it was made up or over blown. I guess if you think otherwise then go down there and find out for yourself.

Are you absollutely out of your Mind? Lets see, 30 killings a day, over 5,000 killed every year, beheadings, Gringo's held for ransom, unable to cary a Weapon, merauders on all the Highways at night, no RV sites rent, bad roads....only thing going for you, gas is cheap but you probably won't last long enough to get through two tanks.......Go to Yellowstone instead and be safe...

My sister was robbed in Mexico City by the Federales. She asked 2 uniformed cops for walking directions, was directed to an alley where they ganged up with 2 more, and demanded all her cash.

Based only on this experience - not the news media, etc. - I will NEVER go to that country.

DW and I will be spending about 6 months in the MH next year, and all our dollars will be spent in the USA and Canada. JMO
