Soon to be newbie motorhome owners

Hello to all. Next week we hope to become first time motorhome buyers. Purchasing a used motorhome is pretty nerve racking especially for first timers but we've learned a lot from the archived IRV2 member posts over the last 6 months while doing our homework. Hopefully as we gain experience we'll be able to contribute to the sites knowledge base but for now the only practical knowledge I can share is about metal detecting as a hobby. If you have an interest in the hobby or have considered giving a shot, I can probably help you get started or in the least steer you to a few good websites that are helpful. Gary & Melissa

Congrats, Aurum! You are way ahead of us...

Anyways, if you know the MSRP of the used RV you are looking for when it was new , I compiled some data http://www.irv2.com/forums/attachmen...1&d=1407528423 in this spreadsheet.

Just looking at the numbers is the percentage of what it should cost after the amount of years it has been in use. So, if it's a 5 year old RV, at the low end, it should be around 40% of the original MSRP when it was new.

Good luck,
Frank

Gary and Melissa, Glad you're aboard. Congrats on the new to you rig. Snow banks in MN are a great place for the metal detectors....at least that's what my former neighbor used to tell me. Enjoy your adventures and be safe.

Good luck!

I hope you make some great memories RVing. We sure have.

Don't rush it. There are lots of floor plans and used coaches out there. It is truly a buyers market, with all the bargains just waiting to be picked up.

I'd recommend you consider an extended warranty. It will be another upfront cost, but I wish I had done that on my first used coach. I would have made my money back within the first year. BTW, Wholesale Warranties is a good place to start, and they are an iRV2 sponsor.
