New members - Tom, Lynn and boat dog Mystic (Coton de Tulear). We have been cruising and living aboard a 35 foot sailboat for three years. Currently in Key West. Time to switch to something faster then 7 knots and able to travel inland. On the verge of ordering a Tiffin AB42 for fulltime use. Belong to Tiffin Owners network (great group ) but want other perspectives.

Tom and Lynn, WELCOME to the landlubbers RV site!!!

We have several of you folks that have come ashore and bought RV's and I'm reasonably certain there are those that have done the opposite as well....

One GREAT husband and wife team that comes to mind in the "sea to shore" transition are John and Jane Canfield...They're Itasca owners that owned a sailing vessel prior to purchasing their "condo on wheels" a year or so ago...If you go to the Winnebago Owners Forum, you'll see posts from "John Canfield" throughout the threads, or maybe even email him... john@janeandjohn.org

I met them at the Winnebago factory several months ago and enjoyed their company...

You'll also find several Tiffin "fans" here, one of which is "Cruzer" on the forums....He and his wife just ordered a 42QRP.

GLAD to have you come ashore and we look forward to hearing more from your searches in the future.

Welcome aboard the forum Tom & Lynn

We made the switch from boat to motorhome. Many more destinations inland to visit.

You can't beat the sightseeing from the height of your seats in a class A motorhome. We look forward to traveling our United States in the motorhome in Class A style. Fun to drive and the passengers and the driver love the view.

Pat and I don't consider ourselves campers we have a nice 2nd home on wheels we move around this country to sleep in our own bed, shower and use our own bathroom when and wherever we are.

This was our boat at the time, a 34' Tollycraft, gas mileage wasn't too good about 5/8 of a mile per gallon, that is about 1¾ gallons per mile. But it did carry 300 gallons of gas in the tanks. So the motorhome gas mileage at 7½ miles per gallon is about 12 times better.

We bought our class A Motorhome in 2003 and love traveling in it. Prior to 2000 I never even considered a motorhome a possibility in my life. And then thinking about retirement and what we would like to do, travel and see this beautiful country of ours, is when a motorhome came into mind.
