Hi!

My husband and I are in the process of beginning our RV journey. We are planning to purchase and depart on or before August of 2022 and are hoping to get any and all advice possible no detail is too small at this point! We may or may not have one of our sons with us (he's threatening to take a gap year between high school and the Air Force) when we head out, depends on if he flies the coop or not, so we are thinking about a mid-bunk 5th wheel. I realize there is an RV shortage right now, which is fine for us since we're not ready to pull the trigger yet. I'm thinking fall or winter 2021? I imagine they'll be more expensive in the spring and summer? Also, we are currently in the D.C. area but are from Arkansas and Missouri. We will have no ties to this area after we leave so we thought we'd put the stuff we want to keep in PODS so it can be shipped anywhere with a phone call, and then "move" to Arkansas since I'd imagine it will be easier/cheaper to purchase and own an RV there. We know we'll be coming back there regularly as a home base anyway because my family is all there.

Again, any thoughts and resources are greatly appreciated as we are just beginning this journey!

Thanks,
Mary

Hi Mary! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

By that time there should be a lot of RV's on the market to choose from!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

I'd suggest going to that RV show in Hershey, Pennsylvania as it is one of the biggest in the country.

I'll also suggest renting an RV for a week or so if you've never used an RV so you can get a feel for what you like and DON"T like.

Hi Mary

Glad to have you here with us.

I agree with going to the Hershey TV show. It is usually held the beginning of Sept. It is a show that is larger so a couple of days is well worth the time. Most manufacturers are there and showcasing their RV's.
