Tell us where you're based, please
My recent post in response to a new member was somehow seen as being rude. I hereby apologise. Since the post was deleted, I couldn't go back and check what I'd said to get people ticked off.
Please, folks, tell us, either in your initial post or as part of your user control panel information, where your home base is. I'd like to be able to get in touch with forum members who are fairly close by, though not on a frequent basis, if there's something I've spotted that could be locally important.
If you don't want us all to know, no sweat, but I expect that it is an inaadvertent omission rather than a wish for privacy, that results in folks not telling.

As you can see by my profile I'm not too far away. We only get out in the early spring and summer. Kids in school and I teach. When not enjoying our park system we/I tend to spend the time working on honey do's around out 3 acres.
Enjoy

Hi Guys & Gals, We're presently in Fayetteville, NC and will be going toward Wisconsin, Minn., Kansas, Nebraska, Arizona and other points, as fuel prices permit. We "fulltime" and have been for almost four years now. Great to be with this good group of folks and look foreward to our communications in the future...)

Frank, most members here are fully aware of their profile info and who sees it. They also know they can put what they want in their sig.
That said, many folks are paranoid about their info. As you can see, we're not. If someone wants a piece of me, I want them to find me
Seriously, if it isn't publically available, it's probably a good idea not to ask.
As my sig says, we're out and about, but we live in central Michigan.

Yep, and this season's hurricanes know where to find you. Kindly keep them out of the panhandle of Florida.

I'm glad to see more people are willing to tell where they're based than are not. We're home-based in what my sister says is "where God goes on vacation". A lot of friends here wonder why we have a motorhome instead of a boat (we're across the street from salt-water marina waterfont homes)
My response has always been that one chunk of rock, sticking out of the ocean and covered in fir trees, looks a lot like all the others. Also, a vehicle that burns 14 gallons/hour while running at 14 knots seems an awfully expensive way of travelling.
It's also difficult to vist the Grand Canyon, the Utah parks or Yosemite in a 30' boat. I'll keep to my motorhome until I can't afford to run it any longer, and as long as my healt holds up.
There was an item on the BBC website today that cheered me up. A 94 year-old lady in Florida has finally decided her eyesight isn't good enough to continue to drive. She bought a Mercury Comet new in 1964 and it now has 576,000 miles on it. In the photo on the BBC site, it looked nearly new. Good-on-you, girl!

How do you know I'm on the Coast?
See! No privacy.
Frank,
I really figure that if anyone wants to find me, they can. I'm sure my name is somewhere on this forum for the world to see, and I'm in the white pages.
However, why make it easy, and besides I worked in varying security fields throughout my life and I'm a really good social engineer. We recently took a trip to San Antonio, then to Corpus, and now we are back. I try not to give out information when we are gong to travel, or where. Why on the "where." Because it gives a distance and from that a time frame can be computed. It is not the people of this forum. It is the fact that this forum can be read "by the world." It's not the dumb crooks that I'm worried about. It is the smart ones with computers that plan their crimes by using the Internet as a source of easy hits.
So as previously stated, everyone has their own reason to post what they want in the information page and in their signature. I don't begrudge anyone their way of doing so.
Happy trails.
p.s., I wish this forum could only be read by members who can post. That would eliminate most of my concerns. I am a member of the MOC forum from when I had a Montana 5th Wheel. It is a closed forum, and the people on it are great. If you want to read you have to become a member. Now, with that said, anyone can portray themselves as an RV'er, so here i go again with my concerns.

We've developed a very good anti-theft system. We don't have anything worth stealing. My computer is seven years old, our TVs are all 4:3 CRTs, the stereo system is at least 35 years old (though it isn't vacuum tubes). If theives took it all, it wouldn't net them enough for a carton of cigarettes.
